How to get a more resilient onion crop, with better quality and higher financial income?
In 2024 we already did over 12 trials with the positive effect of detoxing the young onion plants with RESIL®. In 2025 we wanted to see what will happen with the onions when we applied additional REBOUND, free available calcium.
Goal of the trial: a more healthier onion crop, with bigger onions of a higher quality.
Set up: different objects, in three replicates, including control.
Two objects, in compare to control:
Object 1, detoxing 2.0:
Last season on our own fields we set up a detoxing trial in the onions. The goal here was whether we could get the young onion plants to recover quickly from the violent impact of (soil)herbicide on the onions and speed up their development.
For this detoxing, we applied 1ltr RESIL® per hectare few days after the last herbicide. Followed by a second application of 1ltr RESIL® . For the new detoxing, detoxing 2.0 we go in first with 1ltr RESIL® per hectare after the last herbicide treatment, followed by 20ltr per hectare REBOUND 7 to 10 days later. With this, we give the young onion plants fresh calcium so they can constantly create new (hairy) roots.
These two simple application provided nearly 5 tons more onions in compare to the control. Nearly all of this where onions in the sorting 60+!
Object 2, REBOUND soil:
To be able for the onion seeds to develop equal and quick, we applied 50ltr REBOUND directly after sowing in order to give the seeds free available calcium. REBOUND contributes to a constant “boost” of cytokinins. This keeps the plant in balance and helps producing (hairy)roots in order to grow root-dominant!
The outcome was enormous, nearly 10 ton more by providing REBOUND as a start, of which app. 50% was in the 60+ sorting.
So it’s clear, onions have a big need for calcium applications which is directly available! REBOUND is formulated in such a way, the calcium inside is free available in order to improve growth!
Knowing the results of 2024 and 2025, we will place these two objects together in several trials and demo’s all over the Netherlands and Belgium to provide proof that our technology works, Keep following us if you want to know more!
